softballThe Indiana Coaches of Girl’s Sports Association released its softball All-State nominations for the 2018 season Tuesday. Triton graduate Taytum Hargrave, also a recent pick for the association’s North-South All-Star Softball Classic, was the lone Ink Free News-area athlete to make the lists, with a second team nomination in the Class 1A/2A rolls.

While Hargrave was the lone IFN area pick, there were a number of athletes from the surrounding area to receive nominations to the ICGSA All-State lists.

Class 2A LaVille Regional champ Whitko was given a total of four Class A/ 2A nominations by the association as juniors Ellie Snep and Emalee Duggins were both named First Team All-State, freshman Augusta Garr was named to the second team, and senior Raeanna Hopkins received a third-team selection. Manchester senior Kiera Stacy was named to the first team alongside her Whitko rivals, while teammates Samantha Bromboaugh and Sydney Day, also seniors for the Squires, were named to the second team. Bremen sophomore Erin Coffel earned a first-team nomination for the Class 2A state runner-up Lions, while junior teammates Kaelyn Shively and Rylee Hershberger were given second- and third-team picks, respectively. Pioneer, fresh off its first-ever state championship season with a 32-3 record en route to the Class A title, had three All-State picks as freshman Hailey Gotshall collected first-team honors, and seniors Alexis Robinson and Alyssa Shaw were both given third-team nominations. Winamac senior Miranda Hettinger was named to the 1A/ 2A First Team All-State list as well.

In the ICGSA’s 3A/ 4AA rolls, meanwhile, Class 3A state runner-up South Bend St. Joseph received a pair of nominations in sophomore Lauren Sandor, a first-team pick, and senior Megan Welsh, a third-team selection.
